Sensitive Information

Some requests may involve sensitive health, financial, housing, family, safety,
or mistreatment information. Seniors In Distress limits access to this information
to people who reasonably need it to respond, provide assistance, complete
an authorized referral, or meet a legal obligation.

Seniors In Distress is not automatically a HIPAA-covered entity merely because health-related information is received. HIPAA generally applies to health plans, healthcare clearinghouses, and certain healthcare providers, along with their business associates.

When another privacy or confidentiality law applies, Seniors In Distress
will handle information in accordance with that law.

We do not authorize service providers to use personal information
for purposes unrelated to the services they perform for us.

Mandatory Reporting & Safety Concerns

Information suggesting abuse, neglect, exploitation, self-neglect, fraud, or immediate danger may need to be reported or referred to law enforcement,
Adult Protective Services, emergency responders, or another appropriate agency.

Submitting information does not guarantee that Seniors In Distress
can keep it confidential when disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to address an urgent safety concern.

Payments

Payments may be processed by an outside payment provider. Seniors In Distress may receive transaction details, such as the payer’s name, payment amount, date, and transaction status. Complete payment-card information is generally handled by the payment provider according to its own privacy and security practices.

Donations

Donations may be processed by an outside payment provider. Seniors In Distress may collect the donor’s name, contact information, donation amount, payment status, and any tribute or designation information provided.

Donor information is used to process the donation, issue acknowledgments or receipts, maintain financial records, and communicate with the donor. We do not publish or share a donor’s name or donation details without permission, except when required by law or necessary to process and document the donation.

Email & Text Communications

People who join a newsletter, event list, or other distribution list may receive communications from Seniors In Distress. Marketing communications
will include a way to unsubscribe.

Unsubscribing from general communications may not stop service-related messages concerning an active request, scheduled visit, membership, donation, event registration, or safety matter. Federal guidance requires qualifying commercial email to provide an opt-out method and requires opt-out requests
to be honored within 10 business days.

Text-message and data charges may apply when text communication
is requested or authorized.

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to operate properly, remember preferences, understand website traffic, protect forms, and improve performance.

Do not use an ordinary website form or email for an emergency.

Children’s Privacy

Our website and services are intended primarily for adults. We do not knowingly use the website to solicit personal information directly from children under 13.
